One time big time

Beej & I have a list of movies to watch -- Over The Hedge was there, but due to unavoidable events (ie. my contract break), we missed it. :( I wouldn't let that happen to Inside Man though. :) Despite a thinning wallet, we headed off last last Wednesday to our new favorite moviehouse, Waltermart Makati (a lot nearer than Market Market, not crowded, has really nice slightly-reclining seats, 100 pesos only, and it's cold. ;-) ) to watch the new Spike Lee movie featuring Denzel washington, Clive Owen & Jodie Foster. I just love "perfect" movies -- perfect murders, perfect robberies -- especially when the lead characters pull it off. ;) This movie was a perfect distraction to a relatively busy work week.

We have a Filipino word for this -- lagare. In a single day (last last Saturday, June 3), I went from Pasay, to Buendia (to fetch my passengers - Teret, Rachel & Benny Ann), to Tanuan, Batangas (the "barrio fiesta" at Ms. Nanette & Tito Dan's place), to McDo Greenbelt (my inaanak Bryan's 1st birthday), to Times Plaza, to SM Manila, to Malabon, and back home at Pasay.

How I wish I had gotten Lindsey fixed earlier (because the day after, Lindsey had her first major repair -- clutch disc, pressure plate, release bearing, clutch cable, lower arm suspension), but in any case, the drive was fun (thanks to showbiz news from Rachel), the food was amazing (I haven't experienced a real fiesta in a looong time), and the company was awesome (relaxed WPRO gang on a weekend = fun).

Last last Friday, we finally had the chance to give Hazel (who was leaving for Kissimmee, Florida that weekend -- yes, kiss me, hehe) a proper despedida. Along with Liza, Rommel, Riselle, and Haze's pamangkin (who had a name really similar to Beej's... which I forgot, hehe), we dined at Bellini's. We had two platters of a variety of pizzas and pastas... wow! I had forgotten how delicious the food there was. To think we had a wedding to attend the next day, nuninu.

Afterwards, we headed off to *$ Emerald Ave. so that Sid (who's on a graveyard shift at work) could join in. Haze treated us one last time for coffee (thanks!), kwentuhan, and eventually, we said our 'goodbyes'. A plus tard, mon amie!

Which leads us to last last Saturday -- the wedding of the year... Dioven's nuptials. ;) No need for additional stories here, because details (and pictures) can be found all over the Internet from Brymac's, Cors', Tseri's, and of course the MFEO blog. Congrats, best wishes and good luck! ;)

The June 12 holiday was marked by a visit to MoA, with Mama & Karlo. I've been to MoA so many times already (because of the relatively close distance from our place), that I think I'm starting to memorize where the stalls and restaurants are (oh no!). That day, we tried the Vigan empanada on one of the stalls between the South Parking and the Main Mall buildings. I've never been to Vigan, but I've heard of lots of nice feedback about the delicious empanada near the famous church. Well if the empanada that I tried is even remotely close to the real thing, I guess the stories are true! :)

Up next was Beej's birthday week. It was a chaotic week at work for Beej (to say the least), so we went for the "distraction mode" with our celebrations. It started on Tuesday, when we caught a screening of Cars @ GB3, with the accompanying visit to Timezone of course. On Wednesday, D-Day, we went to mass at Malate church, dined at Cosa Nostra (finally!), and had coffee at *$ MoA (again!). After a "short" trip to the grocery (which always takes around an hour and a half), Thursday was spent 'talking' with Kateh at *$ and CPK Tomas Morato. Andun pa si Panday sa *$. Hehe. And finally, we spent Friday relaxing at Malabon while watching my new favorite TV show, Grey's Anatomy. :) For those who haven't seen it, the show's like a medical Ally McBeal, sans the singing. ;)

Let me see... what's next... last Saturday, after a short bout of OT, we 'supported' Kateh on her new play, Ayayayayaya @ Koiné. Hilarious! You guys should see it. :) The other play, "The Man Who Couldn't Dance", was ok. I'm thinking maybe the reason it didn't click with me was because I was used to having the option to turn on subtitles on DVDs when the dialogue was getting too quick to comprehend. ;)

Then there was last Sunday, Father's Day. This one was interesting. We were, again, at MoA to have my lunchout treat for the family (which was supposed to be for my birthday -- which of course got cancelled because of 'the accident'). Beej, who was in Tagaytay with her family earlier in the day, was supposed to follow. Unfortunately, there was a change in plans, and she instead was just going to drop by to give us pasalubongs. :( Anyway, we actually arrived at MoA at almost the same time, and while both looking for a place to dine... bam! I (with Mama, Papa & Karlo) saw Beej (with Tito, Tita, JB, Nicole & Alexa) near the skating rink! After exchanging "Happy father's day"s, and after Beej gave me the apple tarts, our moms exchanged smiles, our dads shook hands and then we went back to our respective searches for a lunch location. Umm... that was weird. ;) Papa (who loves Chinese food) eventually chose Super Bowl of Asia. We were all starving by the time we got a table, that we ordered too much -- and we had enough leftover take home food for dinner. :)

Which brings us to this hellish week -- TAG meeting week. Last year it was in Beijing, but unfortunately, it's back to Manila this year. :( The meeting just got wrapped up today (hence the blogging), and my baby's finally coming back tonight (yey!). I'm going to fetch her at the airport later. (smiley face x 100)
