La fête des amoureux
I'd like to think that Beej and I spent our first Valentine's together in four separate occasions this year:
1. It's good to always start everything with a prayer. So for the first part of our 'quad-date', we went to mass at Malate church last Thursday afternoon, braving the possible random MMDA or Manila police who might catch me driving on a number-coding day. New found shortcut (thanks Rom!) -- left at Alhambra, straight through the plaza, right at Arquiza, left at Roxas Boulevard service road, straight to Rajah Sulayman Plaza. :) After a long hiatus, we had dinner again at Wok Inn (had stuffed squid and sipa, yum!). Sidenote: They raised prices. :(
2. I took a 'semi-surprised' Beej to Chateau Verde last Friday. Ambiance: 5 stars (for the 'secluded' atmosphere and beautiful 'camouflage' decorations); Food: 4 stars (for the big servings; taste is *only* above average); Price: let's not talk about price -- it's Valentine's Day after all. ;)

Instead of having coffee after dinner (I'm supposed to stay away from coffee shops all week), we decided to talk and hang out instead under one of the trees in UP's Sunken Garden. Corny, I know, but this was my favorite part of the whole week -- getting to spend some real quality time with Beej on my Alma Mater.
3. To celebrate Beej's unexpected early freedom from a 'super meeting', we decided to catch a screening of Fun With Dick and Jane at Market Market last Saturday. Some people can't take Jim Carrey's physical comedy, but not me. ;) Fortunately, for Beej, there wasn't much of that here, just plain funny dialogue (I believe I can fly, hehe...) For dinner, we had Aling Ineng's bbq and Beej's favorite pork sinigang. Yum! I'm getting hungry as I'm writing this post... seriously. ;)
4. On Valentine's Day, Beej and I used the Starbucks planner coupon over at Bayview Park Hotel (check!). Thanks to the planner, we discovered the unique taste of a Hazelnut Caramel Mocha -- like drinking cake! :)
There you go -- church, dinner, movie, coffee -- seems like a pretty 'normal' way to spend Valentine's. But to me it became special because it was spent with Beej... ü
